I'm sorry to hear that you have to do this too. Try to spend as much time with her as you can since that's all you can do. There was something that the vet said while he was reasuring me that I was doing the right thing. He said, that big dogs this age will go down very fast and there will be one problem after another. Medication will only go so far to cover/fix the problem... One can treat and keep them alive but what kind of life is it really? You can keep them alive for another 6 months or so and make them have the worse 6 months of their life, or you can let them fall a sleep in piece after having 14 wonderful years of their life. That helped me deal with the situation and made me realize that I was doing the right thing and that Bear would want me to do that so he didn't have to suffer any longer. Hopefully that is something that can help you as well... Good luck and hang in there. It will be very hard but keeping possitive attitude and keeping in mind that its best for them makes it little bit easier to deal with.
